Worship. Spirituality. Mission.

St John’s has a proud Christian heritage and our historic church brings together people from across the whole community for beautiful worship and glorious music. Its prominent position in Walyalup Koort is a reminder of the religious dimension to life and everyone in Fremantle is invited to share in our activities.

Anglo-Catholics, as heirs to the Oxford Movement, strive to keep orthodox truth and tradition in all its fullness. We maintain traditional vestments, gestures, and rituals. We pray to the saints - especially the Blessed Virgin Mary. And, most importantly,  we keep the Sacraments and the Scriptures at the heart of our common life. We preach the truths of Christianity and teach people to feel the ‘beauty of holiness’.

Our church is open every day for those who wish to pray or find some quiet. Completed in 1879, the building embodies our rich association with ancient Catholicism and we remain committed to our catholic traditions and the Anglican spirit.

Along with St Peter’s church in Palmyra, we endeavour to worship God, make saints of our members, and convert the world to faith in Christ.
